THE HOUSE

The Farmer's Courtyard is a new house of 2009 and renewed in 2023 (apartment on the ground floor)
and, from 2024, also the apartment on the first floor. It disposes of two apartments with sleeping room, bathroom and kitchen. It is situated in the heart of the Cinque Terre, and it is completely independent. It also has a courtyard with tables and a barbecue. In the past, in this area, there were storehouses used by farmers to dry those grapes destined to the production of the famous raisin wine so-called "sciacchetrà". This is a tradition that, even in minor proportion, we try to continue. The house is situated at the beginning of the village, not far from its private parking. The apartments are composed by a fully-equipped kitchen with a double sofa bed, a double-bed bedroom (with an additional single bed) and a bathroom. Each single apartment (35 Sqm) is suitable for up to 5 people. It also has a TV, internet connection and independent heating system. You may also use a large private courtyard with tables and a barbecue and amuse total relax and quietness.
The name Volastra comes from the Latin word "vicus oleaster" (place of olive trees) and since medieval times thanks to its dominating geographical position it was elected as sanctuary of Manarola. Those traces may still be found visiting the church of Nostra Signora della Salute. In the village you can find a restaurant (with excellent seafood dishes), a minimarket, an information point of the National Park, a tennis court and a football field. In the surroundings you will find the "5terre" Cooperative Wine Grower's Association where you will be able to buy local wine and a wide range of traditional products. Volastra, thanks to its position, is an important crossway of paths which go through terraces of vineyards and olive trees from which you may enjoy breathtaking views. Volastra is 2 Km from Manarola which may be easily reached by using the efficient shuttle bus service offered by the National Park. From Manarola you can reach the other villages either by train, by boat or hiking the suggestive sheer-above-the-sea paths as the well known "Via dell'Amore" that links Manarola with Riomaggiore.
